Kate's Bagel Bar will launch at Panzer's on the 12 November where you'll be able to create a bespoke bagel by selecting from a choice of knit and crocheted elements such as knitted smoked salmon, sliced red onion and tomatoes.
"I will be there serving them on the night, and once customers make their selection, I will take them back to my studio to stitch them onto mountboard, sign and get them framed and sent back to the customer," Jenkins explains. She has also created a range of greetings cards and prints which will be available to purchase in-store and online.
How did she get started with wool? "I was around the age of eight when I learned to knit and crochet. Right from the beginning, I was addicted. I spent many happy hours in my childhood home in Wales engrossed in creating 'things' with yarn! My passion has never abated."
A graduate of Fashion & Textiles from the University of Brighton, Jenkins' designs have been used by some of the world’s most famous labels, including Missoni, Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren.
"I was always looking for different ways to use my love of wool, textile and colour. And that’s how my art was born. The 'every day' has always fascinated and inspired me, particularly food. So I began to take things we all know and love – like fish and chips – reinventing them in wool."
