It’s still relatively uncommon for new fathers to take on all the parenting roles but as new laws for paternal leave start to creep in, the path ahead looks brighter. Swedish photographer Johan Bävman shines the lights on fathers, celebrating their role in the upbringing of their children.
The heart-warming ‘Swedish Dads’ series highlights the generous terms of parental leave in Sweden but brings to the forefront the issue that “only a fraction of Sweden’s dads use all their sixty days of parental leave”. The connection between father and child in each of the photographs gives hope for new practices and shows the benefits of taking time out for family.
