Playful street art and murals by Mehdi Ghadyanloo

Iranian artist and designer Mehdi Ghadyanloo is making a name for himself by brightening up the city of Tehran one wall at a time. With the blessing of the city, Ghadyanloo and his mural-painting firm Blue Sky Painters transform blank concrete walls into amazing large-scale works of art.

Often surreal in nature and depicting unusual scenes such as flying cars or folded up buildings, many of the murals interact with the surrounding environment – for example, raindrops appear to fall from a cloud onto a real tree growing below or a child seems to slide down the side of another building. They're all part of over 100 murals created so far, which Ghadyanloo says he hopes will bring β€œsome cohesion or at least colour to the often confused and smog-smeared architectural face of the city."
