New works by acclaimed photographer Erik Johansson who makes the impossible, possible

Acclaimed photographer and retoucher Erik Johansson has gained quite an international reputation for his astonishing imagery, dipped heavily in a satisfying bucket of surrealism. And he's completely self-taught as well.

Originating from Sweden but currently based in Berlin, he doesn’t just capture moments, he captures ideas. Although each photograph is plucked from his imagination, they're all completely convincing and you simply can't tell what has been manipulated.

Speaking of his work, he said: "I discovered that it was fun to change and modify photos for fun in the year 2000 when I got my first digital camera. I’ve always been drawing for as long as I can remember and when I got the camera I felt like I wanted to do something more with the photos. I started playing around with the photos in the computer and discovered photo manipulations. For me the realism has always been very important and it’s a challenge to make a sketch come to life in a photo. When you learn the tools it’s just the imagination that sets the limits."

Here's a selection of some of Erik's latest work, but you can discover more on his portfolio.
