With smartphones making photography easy for anyone, people across the world have been snapping some amazing images that are not short of impressive. The 2015 iPhone Photography Award celebrates this new breed of photography, offering intimate and though-provoking moments, as well as simply stunning scenes from far flung places.
This year’s Photographers of the Year Award winners include Michal Koraleski from Poland, David Craik from the UK and Yvonne Lu from the USA. The variety of finalist entries spans all aspects of photography, from gritty street scenes to idyllic natural landscapes, and everything in between. The three finalists alone offer snippets of culture, wildlife and human emotion.
Overall winner Koralewski talked about how he picks up inspiration everywhere, saying that when he spotted an accordionist in Warsaw, he instictively needed to capture the moment: “His face was the first thing I noticed. So expressive and beautiful in it’s own way. It was like an open book. You could almost read his life story from the wrinkles”.
