Winter is Coming: Street photography that shows a winter wonderland in Russia

There's a one in 10 chance of England having a White Christmas. And this year, it looks like we only have rain and high winds to look forward to. If you're wishing for snow, then this festive series by Berlin-based photographer Chris Retro will warm your heart.

Captured on the streets of Russia's Moscow and Saint Petersburg, the images show a beautiful winter wonderland that we could only dream of, with streets piled high with the white stuff and people wrapped up warm, rushing home to escape the cold.

"As winter looms, the weather is changing. There’s a sharp nip in the air that makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. You can see plumes of smoke coming out of your mouth, and it’s so cold you can’t feel your fingers.

"I have always loved the snow, I just love how it can change the landscape of cities, transform the light, and even the mood. When it’s a true winter wonderland, it makes you do a double-take to make sure you are on the right Street, Ulitsa, Straße or Strada. Winter is coming, you’d better wrap up warm."
