When I think of springtime, I think of blossom. Bright and fresh and gorgeous, with the ability to transform a day from mediocre to excellent in an instant.
This series of vintage-looking photography is by Karma Spies, Paris/Cape Town based and owner of K.S. Consulting, a marketing, branding and design company, and artist – and celebrates only "a taste" of the joys of springtime in the beautiful city of Paris.
She explains: "These photographs were taken in my neighbourhood - Colonel Fabien. It seemed Colonel had had enough of his dreary grey suit; and decided it was time once again to celebrate spring by adorning these gorgeous pink blossoms.
"I just really loved the contrast of these geometric square shapes and patterns of the buildings in the background - it's something a little different to the architecture one usually sees of Paris.
"There is a French expression about the weather that goes 'Une hirondelle ne fait pas le printemps', literally meaning that 'one swallow doesn't make a spring'; or rather just because we see one swallow, do not be deceived into thinking spring has arrived. Of course, the meaning of the saying goes beyond weather predictions and warns that we shouldn’t quickly jump to conclusions on the basis of one hint or sign."
It's certainly brightened up my day. Discover more at karmaspies.com.
