O Canada!: 11 artists come together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada

O Canada! is a new exhibition at Beers London to coincide with the 150th birthday of Canada. The gallery, which began with pop-up exhibitions in Vancouver in 2008, maintains a programme with a partially Canadian focus. It also represents Canadian artists such as Andy Dixon, Thrush Holmes, and Andrew Salgado, and is led by director Kurt Beers, who is himself Canadian. It, therefore, seemed only natural to mark Canada's historic milestone.

The show, which runs until 19 August, includes 11 artists (emerging, mid-career, and established), hailing from across the country, working across a breadth of styles, technical approaches, and mediums. "Intentionally circumventing the overriding theme, O Canada! finds commonalities between these artists based solely on their heritage, raising questions as to whether there truly is some sort of collective, cultural consciousness or aesthetic tradition," explains Beers London.

"This is a celebration of Canadian contemporary art internationally: asking us to consider their varied approaches and styles while offering insight into larger concepts such as land, identity, culture, and politics."

Catch O Canada! at Beers London on Baldwin Street, EC1V 9NU from now until 19 August 2017. More info at www.beerslondon.com.
