Hanging Graffiti: Street mobiles that celebrate a designer's love of typography

If you love typography, positive quotes and street art as much as Switzerland-based French visual artist Stéphane Koyama-Meyer – also known as Traz – then you'll hugely appreciate his ongoing project of Street Mobiles, where the three disciplines are combined to bring beautiful hanging quotes to the streets.

Crafted from reclaimed materials such as metal, aluminium and plastic, each mobile offers different colours and textures to make up one or two words from inspiring quotes and motivational messages; often borrowed from some of the world's greatest poets, philosophers and even hip-hop artists.

What does Traz hope to get out of the project? To give everyone a break from their daily routine and help them adopt a positive mindset: "My attempt is to provide a visual break in a world filled with standardised graphic codes."

Born in Mulhouse, France and a graduate of Visual and Graphic Arts from Strasbourg and Besancon, Traz now lives and works in Basel. He has exhibited all over the world, won an international art contest organised by Crestock and his work has been published in various books, including Book of Creation and Generation T. He's also co-founder of the Back To Type art collective. To discover more, visit his website at Traz.fr.
