4,000 flowers bloom in an abandoned house in Detroit

in Inspiration / Art

Detroit is known for its many rundown and abandoned houses which is why florist Lisa Waud purchased two empty properties with plans to make them beautiful. She has already filled one of the houses with flowers as part of her Flower House project, using the properties as a canvas for her floristry art.

Inspired by Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s wrapped Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, the project explores sustainability, welcoming others to “see abandoned structures as platforms for art or business”. There are plans to fill the second house with flowers in October.
