Purple: Over 30 of Manchester's finest artists celebrate Prince in new exhibition

Don't you just love Prince? Purple is a new exhibition bringing together more than 30 talented artists to celebrate the one and only Prince Rogers Nelson in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Featuring international illustration heavyweights Craig & Karl, Michael C Place of Build Studio and one of Barcelona’s finest – Hey Studio, as well as local talent from the iconic illustrator Stan Chow, collage kings DR.ME and the playful digital studio Design By Day. The lineup even includes Martin Homent – Prince’s official art director who worked with him on many projects including artwork for the albums HITnRUN Phase One and Two.

The artworks will go on display in the window of Fred Aldous – the legendary art and crafts shop based on Stevenson Square for three weeks from 5 September 2016.

The unique exhibition has been organised by Manchester-based designer, illustrator and animator Robert Lomas: “Prince was one of the most creative artists of our time. Not only was he a ridiculously good musician, but he was able to deeply connect with people on so many different levels, so I wanted to celebrate this by bringing together creative people and sharing artwork that is their vision of him."

All artworks are being printed in Purple ink onto lavender G . F Smith colorplan paper on the trusty Risograph machine at Fred Aldous.

Artworks will be available to buy online once the exhibition starts in September at purplemcr.co.uk. Priced at £5 each with all proceeds going to the local Manchester charity Back On Track who enable disadvantaged adults to make positive changes to their lives.
