Pixelated Van Gogh: Artist creates 8-bit versions of the Dutch painter's most famous works

We've enjoyed the 8-bit work of New York artist Adam Lister previously. He's someone who creates pixelated, acrylic paintings based on iconic images from the art world. For this particular limited edition series, Adam focuses on six classic Van Gogh paintings.

Inspired by cubism, minimalism and 8-bit video games, he has reduced the Dutch post-impressionist artist's most famous works to geometric abstractions. The Starry Night, Starry Night Over the Rhone and Three Sunflowers in a Vase are just some of the classics Adam has enjoyed transforming into his typical style.

Speaking of his work, he said: “Having grown up playing Atari and Nintendo video games, this broken-down, angular method of processing and displaying information became an interesting guideline for me to translate and selectively restructure some of the most famous paintings in the world."

If you love this 8-bit style, you'll be happy to discover that his paintings are available as limited-edition prints. See more of Lister's work on his website.
