Beautiful hyperrealistic, painted sculptures of female swimmers by Carol Feuerman

American artist Carol Feuerman is recognised as one of the world’s most renowned hyperrealist sculptors, and her impressive career spans four decades. She sculpts and paints monumental, life-size and miniature works in bronze, resin and marble, and is best known for her large outdoor painted figurative pieces with water themes.

With a fascination of the female form and a recurring topic of swimming – each beautiful and colourful piece depicts a woman in a bathing costume, resting by the side of a pool or floating on an inflatable lounger or beach ball, often with their eyes closed and looking restful and happy.

Usually created to become freestanding pieces of art in unexpected interior and exterior spaces, Carol's sculptures are often provocative and unusual – depicting the American girl next door on a summer holiday.

Feuerman lives in New York and Florida, and has studios in Manhattan and Jersey City. She has had six museum retrospectives to date and has been included in exhibitions at the Venice Biennale, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, The State Hermitage, The Palazzo Strozzi Foundation, The Kunstmuseum Ahlen and the Circulo de Bellas Artes, among others.
